Chapter 365: Chapter 358: It Turns Out to Be a Misunderstanding
Tang Yuxin entered the ward where Gu Ning was staying with two lunch boxes in hand. As she walked in, he already had his eyes open, having heard her footsteps.
She set down the lunch boxes and first changed Gu Ning’s medication.
Then she placed one of the lunch boxes before him.
“This is for you,” she said.
She also took one of the lunch boxes for herself, removed her mask, sat aside, and started to eat.
This was the first time that Gu Ning really observed the doctor who had been taking care of him. She was younger and prettier than he had imagined, with an attractive face, youthful yet sophisticated. One look at her, and he felt at ease with her appearance.
There were only two types of women in his eyes, those that were pleasing to look at and those that were not.
Tang Yuxin, it seems, belonged to the former category.
He also recognized her, the girl from the roof.
However, he didn’t say anything about it.
Picking up the lunch in front of him, he was about to eat when he realized she was still in the room.
“Are you eating here?”
Guning asked Tang Yuxin, putting down his lunch box, not eating.
“Yeah, there’s no space outside,” Tang Yuxin was a very easygoing woman. As for Gu Ning, whether it was because they had known each other for two lifetimes, or because Gu Ning had used her kidney in the last life, she was very relaxed in front of him. She treated him like family. But would he feel the same way?
“I have SARS,” Gu Ning warned her. “It’s contagious.”
“Who told you that you have SARS?” Tang Yuxin asked him curiously, “Who did you hear it from? I need to find them.”
Guning felt like the unflappable facade he had maintained for years was falling apart, “Didn’t you say that?”
“I didn’t,” Tang Yuxin denied flatly. She would never jump to conclusions without concrete data. In the face of indisputable facts, the truth is the truth.
Not her, nor anyone should distort the truth.
“Do I need to be hospitalized?”
Gu Ning’s eyebrows were furrowed tightly at this point.
“Yes,” Tang Yuxin nodded, lowered her head, and continued to eat, “you have pneumonia, but it’s ordinary, not SARS. However, it still requires hospitalization.”
Gu Ning stared at the young female doctor for a long while, then opened his lunch box, and began to eat, bite by bite.
He had impeccable table manners. He didn’t make any noise with his chopsticks and bowl while eating, consumed his meal slowly, making it seem like he was partaking in exquisite delicacies.
Indeed, this man had a certain charm to him.
His thick brows were very handsome, his brow bones high, his nose prominent and his lips a bit thick—when seen together, they had a certain unique charm.
What kind of man could be described as having an appealing aroma?
Not the kind that smelled of old dirty socks or musty cologne, but a man exuding his unique pheromones.
She speculated that the pheromones of a matured Gu Ning in ten years would definitely attract many women.
Remembering the condition of Brother Shen Fei’s leg, she wondered how he had gotten injured.
He had saved a child, and a car had run over his leg.
Gu Ning suddenly squinted his eyes.
“Do you know Shen Fei?”
“Not really,” Tang Yuxin had emptied her lunch box by now. She had no time for etiquette or delicacy. They were dealing with life and death situations here, a single second’s delay could cost a life.
Her meals were not meals anymore, they were more like hurried feeding sessions.
“Hmm?” Gu Ning’s humming clearly indicated that he was still waiting for her answer.
“When I was going back to school after the New Year, Brother Shen Fei saw me walking alone and kindly gave me a lift. His face became etched in my memory.” She responded. It was just a brief encounter, but it was that chance encounter that led her to saving Shen Fei’s legs.
Gu Ning put down his chopsticks.
“Are you that student from Qing University?”
“Yes, do I not look like it?” Tang Yuxin touched her face, “I look quite young, people always say that. I’m a sophomore, only twenty years old. Do I look like a thirty-something woman?”
“No,” Gu Ning stared at her youthful face with his cold clear eyes. It felt odd to him, this female doctor was way too young. She looked just about twenty years old, which means she should still be a student. But she could perform major surgery. Is she a prodigy or some kind of freak of nature?Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Tang Yuxin put on her mask again, collected the leftovers from the table, then pointed to some clothes.
“You’ll have to change into these later. There are also a lot of tests that need to be done.”
“I know,” Gu Ning looked at the IV in his hand. He had to wait until the drip was complete before moving.
However, Tang Yuxin had already left after cleaning up the trash. There were other patients outside, and there was a severe shortage of doctors. Of course, now was the time to test their medical skills. Soon, everyone would have to wear protective gear.
Not long after Tang Yuxin left, Dean Tao arrived, and the nurse behind him also brought a lunch box.
“Uncle Tao, I’ve eaten already,” Gu Ning wasn’t interested in the meals. Having already eaten his fill, he didn’t need more. “Have my soldiers eaten?”
“We’ve just sent it over, don’t worry,” Dean Tao asked the nurse to go out because he had something to tell Gu Ning.
“Later on, I will arrange a special ward for you. Although you don’t have SARS, your illness still needs proper treatment. Otherwise, it might turn into SARS in the future. You need to take good care of yourself and not cause more concern for your father.”
“I understand. Thank you, Uncle Tao.” Gu Ning leaned back, clearly familiar with Dean Tao.
“Also, Uncle Tao, I need to ask you a favor.”
“Hm, tell me.”
Dean Tao grinned, “Who is it?”
“The one who performed surgery on Shen Fei, is she your student?” The students of Qing University usually call Manager Tao ‘Teacher’.
“You mean Tang Yuxin?” Dean Tao nodded, “Yes, she’s one of my students. She’s only in her second year.”
“Transfer her to the General Hospital. This young doctor, we definitely need to bring her over. You understand, the people in our company are engaged in dangerous jobs and are mostly treated at the General Hospital.”
“You’re too late,” Dean Tao’s bitter smile was evident. How did everyone want to snatch his students away? He still had five students. The other ones weren’t too bad, they were the cream of the crop from Qing University these recent years. However, they all had their eyes on Shi Yuan and Tang Yuxin.
However, he could understand why. Medical skills were one aspect, but medical ethics was another.
What do you think?
